
On July 25, Bonhams Los Angeles will host a unique event: the Modern Design | Art sale, featuring a meticulously curated collection from the acclaimed actor, artist, and writer Jim Carrey. This 35-lot collection, amassed over nearly 30 years, reflects Carrey’s vibrant and eclectic artistic taste, showcasing a blend of modern design and fine art that speaks to his creative spirit.
Jim Carrey, known for his dynamic career in film and his distinct artistic vision, expressed his excitement about the sale.
“It’s been my very good fortune to be surrounded by many of the finer things in life and I’m always gratified when it’s time to let them go so that others may enjoy them as well,” Carrey shared, highlighting his desire to share his collection with the world.



The collection features outstanding examples of modern design from prominent creators celebrated in design circles. Many pieces selected by Carrey draw inspiration from nature, emphasizing organic forms and natural beauty. Among the highlights are:
Joris Laarman (B. 1979), Cumulus Table, 2010: This carved marble piece from an edition of 20 is incised with ‘Joris Laarman, 5/20’. Its estimated value is between $60,000 and $80,000.



Philippe Hiquily (1925-2013), Armchair, designed 1971, executed 2004: Made of brass, steel, and cowhide, this armchair is monogrammed ‘HP’ and numbered ’10/40′. It is estimated at $20,000 to $30,000.
Philippe Hiquily (1925-2013) and Jean-Claude Farhi (1940-2012), Console, designed 1968, executed 1989: This gilt-bronze and yellow altuglas piece is numbered ‘7/8’ with the foundry mark ‘Bocquel Fd’. Its estimated value is also $20,000 to $30,000.



Alexander McQueen (1969-2010), Hummingbird Rug: This hand-woven silk and metallic thread, wool rug is estimated at $15,000 to $20,000.
Maison Leleu, Executive Desk, 1965: Crafted from mahogany, patinated, and gilt-bronze, this desk is valued between $8,000 and $12,000.



The collection’s diverse range of items—from modern design to fine art and rock and roll photography—offers a window into Carrey’s artistic influences and his appreciation for creative expression. Each piece reflects his keen eye for beauty and his commitment to surrounding himself with art that inspires.
